Join the Wake Forest Young Professionals at this special professional development seminar. We will cover important HR topics that all young professionals should be aware of as they further themselves in their career. Jill Radding with UNC Rex Healthcare will lead the discussion. - Formatting your Resume (Numbers, Dates, Action Verb Tenses, Objective Statement)
- The importance of using key words from the desired job description in your resume to help with HR screening software
- Insider scoop on hiring at a large company and how that differs from hiring at a small business
- How to make unrelated experience look relevant on your resume
- Using LinkedIn and what information should be included in your profile
- Interview Etiquette (Attire, Thank You notes, Follow Up)
- Advice on getting people to take you seriously when you are young (credibility building, partnerships, external development)
- How to find or seek out a mentor in your company or industry and how important this is for career development
- Long-term career development guidance, training, professional designations
- How to ask for a raise (how to make your case)
- How to leave a job without burning bridges (notice and etiquette)
