Writing from Memory with Sarah Van Name
What does it mean to "write what you know"? Sometimes, it means writing what you remember. In this one-hour workshop for teen writers, participants will learn how to use sensory details to enhance their writing and create evocative scenes based on their own memories.
Sarah Van Name is a young adult fiction writer. Her first book, The Goodbye Summer, tells the story of a girl torn between a new friendship and an unhealthy relationship. Van Name grew up in North Carolina and attended Duke University twice--once for a teenage creative writing camp and once as an undergraduate--and now lives and works in Durham with her husband, Ben, and her dog, Toast.
